“Music helps us remember what is most important – sounds, words and emotions.”

Teacher Giving Guitar Lessons

The Polish Centre for Music Education (PCEM) is an educational initiative based in Peterborough (UK), established by the Polish Music Centre.

Our main goal is to support the development of music education for children and young people of Polish descent and to strengthen the competences of teachers working in Polish communities.

We believe that music is a natural bridge to language – it helps children not only sing in Polish, but also understand the culture, express emotions, and build a lasting bond with their native heritage.

Why was PCEM created?

Working with Polish children abroad often lacks well-prepared, modern teaching materials adapted to the realities of foreign environments. An equally significant challenge is the lack of systemic support for music teachers.

We see that many educators work in isolation – without the opportunity for regular exchange of experiences, methodological consultations or access to proven teaching tools.

PCEM was created to change this.

We create a common space for development, cooperation and knowledge sharing.

Our mission

Our mission is to build a professional, supportive community of music and rhythm teachers working in the Polish community.

We want every child – regardless of where they live – to have access to valuable music education in Polish.

What do we offer?

🎵 Free training and workshops (in-person and online) for teachers of rhythm, music, singing, and instrument playing — depending on the grant funds obtained.

🎵 Professional teaching materials: lesson plans, recordings, sheet music, worksheets and music and language games.

🎵 Methodological support and mentoring – for both beginner and experienced teachers.

🎵 A network of contacts and exchange of experiences between teachers from different cities and countries.

🎵 Promoting music education as a key tool for strengthening the Polish language and cultural identity of children.

Our values

❤️ Accessibility - our activities are open and free.
🤝 Collaboration - we build a network, we do not operate in isolation.
🎶 Passion — we believe in the power of music and its influence on human development.
🌍 Bilingualism and multiculturalism - we support children in consciously moving between cultures.
📚 Professionalism - we rely on proven pedagogical methods and high-quality materials.
